Rains and hot onion Pakodas.

june is here,rains are detected and smelled,four in the eve high winds and lightning and thunder and the first big fat hot drops fall. rain water is not like watering the garden,its something else and the plants know it. Dust from four months are washed from the trees and the leaves shine. season for oleanders and hibiscus to bloom. some years i have counted thirty flowers in one hibiscus bush. time to go walk in the rain, though not the first one as it may contain lots of acid and carbon then its time to make onion pakodas. if one has a maid who can do all the cutting it will be jolly but if one has company one can do it. Cut onions ginger curry leaves finely. take besan,rice flour four to one proportion add salt, red chilli powder.Heat one ladle of oil in a pan pour it to the besan mixture add a little water, make a dough, not too soggy. heat oil in a pan deep fry the batterin small quantities. take out when they are brown let it cool. sit in a bay window overlooking yr garden or balcony with ketchup and eat with lots of banter laughter and conversation. Skip dinner..

    What's the Telegu name for the flower in your banner? In Bengali we call it "Kaath golap" - "wood rose"!

    thank you. it rained y.day but i dint make pakodas. you have to have the mood and the ingriedients like my g.son says. dint have onions, ginger ext.some other time.

    the heated oil makes the pakodas crisp. you dont have to add soda like the shops do to make them crisp. tricks of the trade one learns after living for half a century.

    all you have to do is dash off to where i am and you can eat pakodas, the easiest thing to do if one is not a working woman.one can either make pakodas or films.

    I am not a telugu person dunno what it is called in telugu. its frangipani, native of hawai island. you must have seen their garlands made of these flowers. many colours are there. we have red, white and yellow. they have a mild fragrance and the white ones are truely beautiful.

    i finally did it, but i am lazy, i tire easily and i dont like to sit in front of the comp. We did a little planting this eve.it rainedlast eve. Cooler. two days back g.said i saw millipede in the garden. i told him it will rain soon. turned out to be true.pakodas are eaten when there are friends, chatter and time.no excuse needed.
